YS-90DX flashes, but don't see it in photo

  1. Hello,

I just got my first underwater setup:

    Canon S70 w/ Canon DC40 underwater enclosure

    Sea And Sea YS-90DX strobe

Fiber optic cable to hook the two.

The strobe is set to slave = On, and Power to "On" or "TTL".

I was testing the setup in my room (above water) and seem to have a problem syncing the flash to show up in my pictures in Aperature or Shutter priority modes. When I switch to Manual mode on the camera, I can see the strobe light up the room properly. In all instances, both the built-in camera flash and strobe flash.

Is this a sync issue? My guess is that the camera shutter is closing before the strobe goes off.

    Thanks!

    Jason

  2. Set power to pre, or pre-flash

  3. Hm. I didn't think that my camera does a pre-flash. But, I will try that when I get home.

  4. Thanks! That was the problem. The S70 does a pre-flash in Auto Flash mode. I can either set the strobe to "Pre" or set the S70 to Manual Flash mode.

    Thanks for the tip.
