ike synch cord question

3 posts
  1. Are my 10 year old ike synch cords ok with new manual controller?

I have a bunch of TTL cords that I've used between n90s and SS200s, in TTL mode.

They are all 5 conductor, but not "digital 5 conductor...". I assume you count the center as a conductor, anyway...

Can I use the same cords from a digicam, like the sony V3, to 1 or 2 manual controller?

Since I'm not using TTL, it should work..??

Aren't all ike cords 5 conductor?

    Thanks,

    Don

  2. Only the new digital sync cords are five conductor. Any cord can be used with the EV Manual controller because it only needs sync signal. Power for the controller comes from the strobe to which it is attached. Remember strobe must be in TTL to process the predetermined manual quench signal from the controller. Following URL has sync cord wiring information: http://www.ikelite.com/faq/faq_syncwiring.html

  3. So these cords with 5 conductors in the connectors, have only 4 of them wired up?

I've never sat with an ohm meter to find out.

    Thanks Ike.

    Don
