A couple from Salt & Town Piers, Bonaire

  1. Was playing with a four strobe set-up. Had some luck but need to keep experementing with it. One thing for sure is water has to be fairly clear or backscatter becomes real issue. Any ideas or tips welcome. This set-up is for use w/the 10.5mm lens. Town Pier must have had +25 divers under there kicking up the sand. Had to shut my focus light off and just use other divers as they looked around.

  4. Nice shots. I especially like #4. But are 4 strobes really necessary?

  5. The idea, probably flawed, is that the 10.5mm lens covers so much area why not light it? Especially in very “vertical†settings like the piers. Also wanted to see how it worked on a large wreck. One thing I will try is turning down the strobes and opening the f.stop more to get more background. My wife is a great buddy, fantastic at finding stuff but like most non-photogs always on the move. This is a set up that will require sitting in place and playing with. After that I can play with adding filters!!!

  6. Man, that's a lot of firepower. I applaud your effort but you will probably never be able achieve totally even lighting on this type of photo with the 10.5. In a CFWA situation where you're only trying to light a relatively small area you can do it and two strobes is fine but trying to light such a large area....I don't think you can do it.

I think the first pier shot and the last hilma hooker shot work best for me. In those shots your only lighting one element and the light fall-off isn't so distracting.
