Posted shots from recent Fiji trip

  1. I posted some shots from our amazing trip to Fiji. It is our first foray into the pacific and I was amazed by the life we witnessed. We stayed on the island for 3 days taking in the culture and spent a week on the Aggressor. The biggest problems we had were trying to decide whether to shoot macro or wide angle. It's going to be hard going back to the carrib after this trip. Well here is the link to some shots...

  2. Wow - looks superb. Really great variety of shots.

Some are a little too compressed (with jpeg artefacts) for my preferences, but they are superb images either way.

    Thanks for sharing.

Did you use your D70 in an ike housing for the shots? Also how many strobes?

  3. Hey thanks for looking. Didn't realize they were so compressed will have to take a closer look. Yeah I used the Ike housing with standard 6 inch dome for my 12-24 on the wide angle and used a Tamron sp di 90 for macro. My wife used a 4040 with Inon d2000. I use a couple of old Sea and Sea YS120 strobes, all my shots done manually in raw.

  4. You show very good photos, Tony! They all are nice, but WA pics look great, so beautiful! And the sharks, how amazing they are!

And your friend the dentist shrimp is the star of the show :o

    Good job, thanks for sharing!

  5. Hi Tony,

Thanks for posting. Brings back a lot of memories from when I was there last May.

    Cheers

  6. Anna and James thanks for looking it was quite a target rich environment. I immensely enjoyed the trip. Save a tack dive site has to be my favorite one of the trip.

  7. Hi Tony,

Is that the Save-a-tack Passage between Namena and Vanua Levu? I dove there once in 2000 and it was awesome.

    Cheers

  8. Yes it was James I believe this part of the trip was in the underwater park. We dove this site after doing Hi 8 and E6 whcih are two pinnacles coming up from the sea floor. I believe there are two Save a Tack sites one North and one South. The Save A Tack we did had also the Kansas site which had those beautiful soft gold corals that supposedly look like the wheat fields here at my home. Very beautiful site, has to rank as one of the prettiest sites I have ever seen diving. We all remarked that we just wanted to stay there for the rest of the diving. You can see those gold corals in some of my wide angle shots.

  9. Nice pics!! I really like the wide angles...

    David.

  10. Thanks David, I really enjoy shooting wide angle. Thinking of going with the 8 inch dome to improve things. Thanks for looking.

  11. Great stuff, Save a Tack/Namena has got to be one of my fave dives in the world, go past the arch and come upon that bommie just absolutely covered in purple soft coral....awesome.

How are the boys on the Aggressor doing these days? (I worked on the boat for a while) Sam and Ram and Mo all still working? How about Joe and Luke?

Yep, can see you would never want to go back to the Carribean after that!

  12. The captain is Ned he had a sore toe nail that I ended up removing on the back of the boat for him. Mo and Luke are doing just fine. Mo still smiles and laughs all the time. He found most of the nudi's that I shot during night dives. Fun people. Ulai is doing well. Scott is the photo pro and I haven't met a nicer, more knowlegeable pro on a liveaboard. Most of the people you talk about are there but it seems there may be some changes...the way you describe the site is absolutelly dead on Mike, just like you were doing the dive now :o
