I am considering a 2x Teleconverter for my 70 - 200 VR lens. Has anyone compared the Kenko Pro 300 DG with Nikons TC20E-II?

I didn't compare them but I know that the Nikon's converters have problem with a lot of the Nikon's lens vs. the Kenko that works without problems with much more lens.

I got the 1.7X converter for my 70-200mm. It works great. I didn't get the 2x converter because it is an older design and a lot larger than logic would dictate.

Not so sure about the TC20E-II but with the Nikon 1.7x, you will retain the VR function. As far as I know, with the Kenko, you will lose the VR ability. Probably better to check out nikonians or nikoncafe though as there are plenty of people using the 70-200 VR lens there.

The TC20E II works fine with the 70-200 on my D100. All funcitions, including VR work perfectly.
