Nikon Coolscan LS4000 to 5000 upgrade

  1. Hi,

Has anyone with an LS4000 upgraded to the 5000? - I'm trying to determine if it's a worthwhile exercise.

If so what advantages were gained?

    Thanks

  2. Hi Steve,

I have used both and haven't really noticed big differences in the end results. The LS5000 is faster - but not by much once you start multiscanning.

If you do a lot of of scanning then the bulk slide loader is wonderful. May be a better way to spend the money. Being able to leave 50 slides multiscanning overnight is wonderful! For what it is, there is no way it is worth the money. But for what it does it really is. It might be worth trying to find one on eBay. Although they don't like all slide mounts.

  3. Thanks Alex,

    That's useful food for thought

  4. Anybopdy know if the Nikon SF210 slide feeder will allow batch scanning with digital ICE on? I'm asking because the strip film adapter needs you to manually select digital ICE per frame, which is a pain

I'm hoping the SF210 will use the same settings for every slide unattended....

I'll be using it with the LS4000

    Thanks

    Steve
