I recently splashed out on an Olympus C4000 and PT-10 housing, and a Ikelite DS-50 with a TTL slave, in preparation for a diving holiday that we're about to go on. I've never used much more than a hired MX-10 in the past, so this is probably a very silly question! But since the manual was in Japanese, and I only got a couple of sheets of English instructions from the distributor, I feel I ought to ask! (The sheets cover the basics, but mainly concentrate on preventing the housing from flooding.)
I've plugged the kit together, and tried it out above water, and it all seems fairly straightforward. Is there anything special you need to do with the camera or housing in this setup?
In particular, I was wondering about the diffuser on the front of the PT-10.
Do I need to cover it in some way, to direct the light towards the TTL slave, in order to prevent backscatter from the internal flash? Or is the light from the internal flash so insignificant compared to the DS-50 that it's really not a problem?
Are there any other tips to recommend to an absolute beginner regarding this particular kit ? (I'm doing all the background reading I can at the moment, hoping to bring back some nice photos!)
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Cheers,
Glyn
