Canon IXUS V2 housing - WDPC600

  1. Ok, this is from left field and may not be possible but would like some feedback from anyone who has had anytype of expierence in trying or even succeeding in getting the older IXUS 'V' (i can see some of you already going 'IXUS wha...??') otherwise known as the now discontinued Powershot 'Digital ELPH' S110 into the above housing purposely built for the upgraded model ELPH S200.

I already own an IXUS V (or Elph S110) which by its own rights doesn't have a decent housing for scuba purposes (rated to 3mtrs/10ft) and as much as i would like to buy a bigger better grander camera + appropriate setup, I just don't have the money to splurge yet.. So i figure that maybe going down this route i may find a cheap alternative to record some fond memories.

Would like to know if you had to tweek anything internally. Ie. The buttons from the casing didn't quite meet up to the buttons on the camera. If the everything went smoothly, if the casing flooded, or its just not workable.

Please, anyone with experiences, suggestions or friendly advice to share, it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks for your time.

    :)

  2. I regularly go to Ebay’s auction site for underwater cameras and housings and have seen some older smaller housing that you might be able to adapt to your camera.. Just a suggestion that you might look in to.

  3. Have a look at digideep. They list some housings for your IXUS V (S110)

  4. To Marc and Sabine, thank you both for your suggestions.

I should have mentioned that i live in Australia and in this instance, with the v2 housing being priced at a reasonable cost over here, buying from the States is just not worth it this time round (with shipping and all). Also, would like something that will cater for a strobe setup and will get to a reasonable depth, something the WP-DC600 is capable of.

Anyway, yesterday i went into a store with my V and had a look at the V2 housing. I was impressed! The camera fit the housing, it was tight but it fit. All the buttons/controls on the housing except for two connected dead centre with those on the camera. One of the two that weren't accommodated for I expected to occur (on/off button for the LCD display - no biggy) and the other was about 2mm off and should be an easy fix (the menu button)... So I ended up ordering it, it should be in next week - I can't wait!!

    Thanks again.
