  1. I am not really an art lover. I have always been with 60s Brit photographer David Bailey on this one, who said "It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter, because you can invent things".

Anyway, so the only art I have on the walls of my flat are pictures by Roy Lichtenstein. I like his use of composition and colour. And I find it good inspiration for my photography.

But I wanted to go a step further and was inspired to create an underwater version of a Lichtenstein style picture from one of my images in Photoshop. I don't really believe that this has worked very well, but I thought I'd share it and would appreciate what people think.

But I have learnt a few things about what to look for in a starting image. So next time might be better.

  2. Well my comment was going to be how did you do it.....

I think it's great, i've tryed to make artsy stuff with a few of my photos but they never came out nearly that nice.

  3. weeelll, i only get a half a picture but i blame that on my connection i guess.

Doesn't really do a lot for me to tell you the truth. I know what you are trying to do, and i know the style. But i was never a big fan of that style in the first place so i guess my comment doesn't really count.

Guess i am just an artistic neandrathal

  4. I actually like it a lot! Art doesn't have to be beautiful, just create a feeling. The feeling I get from this one is "Wow, a new band!" I would definitely pay the cover charge to go see these guys.

    Pretty cool.

    Cheers

  5. Thanks for the feedback. Just a bit of fun really.

To create the dots go to FILTER>PIXELLATE>COLOUR HALF-TONE. The radius sets the dot size.

To make it effective you don't want the whole image as dots. Black areas at least should be solid colours.

It is best to select each colour separately and then copy into a new layer and apply the filter on each separately. Gives you more control.

p.s. For interest - this is the original.
