  1. Ike, this is a frustrating and very difficult combination to make work on a D100/17-35 lens and your housing.

The rotator ring would not slip over the zoom clamps (I'm on the way to my Dremel tool!) and then putting the lens with the ring clamp attached into the housing....Well, it just ain't a good or easy solution.

I'm sure, with practice and a few beers, it may suffice, but please Ike....

Whip up something that is easier to set up.

Thanks for all the other great product you've developed!

    And of course, Dive cheerfully!

  2. A few beers, GrtDay, will not replace Jack Daniels as recommended source of fortitude............

  3. Ron,

Certain lenses like your 17-35mm are larger in diameter at the lens end than at the lens zoom ring. This necessitates loading the zoom clamp and sleeve from the back side of the lens and then attaching the lens onto the camera face after the camera has been loaded into the housing. This procedure is reversed to remove the camera from the housing.

The good news is that a lens lock release control is now standard on all new DSLR Ikelite housings.

  4. You are a wise man but please fix the set-up for that lens. I'll end up pulling all my hair out...or should I just buy a 12-24DX version.

    Thanks Ike!

  5. If this is like my Canon housing then it's very easy to use as is. The key is to attach the zoom clamp after putting the camera in the housing:

    1) Install camera in housing with lens attached (but no port and no zoom clamp and sleeve).

    2) Remove lens from front of camera through port opening (camera is still in housing) and install zoom clamp and sleeve to lens.

    3) Reattach lens to camera through port opening and engage zoom sleeve.

    4) Install port to housing.
