  1. Hi guys, just got my slides back. Here are two that I just scanned, I will post a few more tomorrow, and will let you know when I update my site with the new pictures. Scanning slides is a pain!!

EDIT: I have just updated my website with 24 new photos from Bali. They are galleries 7 and 8 in my webpage. Comments are appreciated!

  2. Swwwwweeeeeeeeett Anemonefish!!!!

Did you shoot a whole roll to get that one?

Great job, hope you enjoyed your time in the SW Pacific, that reminds me to go diving tomorrow.

  3. Thanks Mike, I had a great time. I didn't shoot the whole roll of that anemone fish, but I shot 20+ pictures. I have a bunch that are good, but this is the only one that has "expression".

Oh, by the way, I will be moving to a location a lot closer to you next November: Hawaii :) :) :)

  4. Your moving to the tropical Pacific!? Smaaaarrrrrt move!

May even see you out this way somewhere...

    Mike

And yes that Anemonefish is absolutely loaded with "expression, personality, and a certain amount of charm!"

  5. Luiz, how do you like Tulamben? It is one place I want to go very much and it seems like an easy divetrip but for some reason, I have not beeen able to convince my divebuddies to go there yet. Hmmm, may be it is time to ditch them and find new buddies :)

I have been thinking about doing Tulamben for a few days then move down to Nusa Penida for the Mola Mola. One of the trips I have been thinking about for awhile.

  6. Boi, Tulamben is a great site, very easy diving (it's mostly shore diving, depending on where you stay), good vis, great marine life (the villagers don't allow fishing there). I did both sites, Tulamben this year and Nusa Penida back in 2000, but I didn't see any Mola there, maybe it was the wrong time of the year. Oh, I almost forgot, the water in Tulamben was one of the warmer waters I've ever dove in, 29+ degrees C, and the divemasters were always complaining about cold! Can you believe this?

I am planning to go back to Indonesia next year, but I think I will go to Lembeh or Raja Empat.

Mike, we will certainly have chances to meet. I will work on a project that involves field trips to several locations accross the Pacific and Indian oceans, and your home islands are in my hit list.

Here are a couple more pictures:

  8. Thanks for the info. Will definitely look into Tulamben. I will be in Lembeh next month and also in September. Tentatively book a trip to Raja Empat in December but my boss started to give me a look so I am not 100% sure about that trip yet. I was in Bali a couple of years ago on my way to Komodo but never had a chance to dive there. Recently won a freebie accomodation/divetrip for a couple of days at Nusa Penida so I will have to use that sometimes in the next year or so :)

  9. What do you guys think of these two? Just experimenting with diagonals and verticals...

  11. Hi James,

I stayed at a relatively new place, called Tulamben Wreck Divers. They have very knowledgeable dive masters, and they are the closest hotel to the Liberty Wreck. They are also cheaper than most, but accomodations are fine. Rental dive gear is all new, but I carried my stuff anyways. I recommend it.

  13. I also like the pink anemone fish in the field of tentacles in your gallery.
