Surpise, surprise, Nexus launches D100 housing

  1. I was doing a little research for my DEMA bound friends to look for and low and behold I discovered that Nexus now has a D100 housing. If it is ready to ship they are the first as far as I can tell.

I'm a bit surprised. Nexus is a Japanese maker of high quality housings, but has been more than a little slow in keeping up with newer models. They don't even have an F100 housing. They recently announced an N80 housing, which I thought was strange considering the mad rush to digital. I thought they were passing on the digital revolution.

Well, as I wait for someone to start delivering a D100 housing, low and behold I found this:

    Nexus D100

So, who will be first? Has anyone seen a Sea & Sea D100 housing that was to ship in September? Subal says November. Seacam and Aquatica say early 2003 now. Ikelite now has the S2 and is doing the D60 I believe, but still no D100.

Nexus do make a F100 house now:

It was launched in Sep this year.

One of my friends here in Japan ordered one for the

D100 and he says they promised to deliver in Nov.

I will post pictures when I can, or perhaps they will

    show it at DEMA.

  3. Ah, yes. I am still surprised at how long it took for them to develop the F100 housing, but I am just as surprised at how quickly they finished the D100 housing. Others have typically anounced theirs, then mumbled about delivery dates. Kind of like cameras, eh?

Suposedly, the Nexus D100 housing WILL be shown at DEMA, I believe at the Marine Camera booth.

    I'm beginning to drool.

  4. Here is the reply I got from Ikelite concerniing D100 housiings

"We will be looking at a fully functional housing for the D-100, D60

and S-2 Pro. They will likely be new housings for 2003. The back will

be mostly aluminum with acrylic plates for control placement and

viewing purposes. If TTL functioning cannot be achieved with the

D-100 and our strobes, a manual controller will be available when the

new housings come out. It's still too early in the game for any more

specifics. The redesigned housings for the high end digitals will

likely retail for around $2000.00. Check the website periodically for

    more. "
