noob w/20D & Stack Photo Workshop

1 posts
  1. I just wanted to finally drop a post on a forum I've been reading for some time now. I recently purchased a 20D and Ikelite housing w/ an Ike DS125. I first bought the camera for a trip to the Silver Banks to get some great topside shots...I was very impressed with the camera. So I decided to take the further plunge and house the girl. My first trip unfortunately was planned in advance of me finding the Tom & Therisa Stack photo workshop...so I went to Habitat Curacao armed with very little knowledge of the camera underwater. I basically shot all week in Program mode on the camera with the strobe set to TTL. I was shooting with the Canon 100mm macro. By the end of the week I had ended up amazing myself with my photo's. I actually had some great shots!

Two weeks later I was in Key Largo taking the Stack course and finally learning alot about the camera. Despite horrid weather conditions, our class still managed to come away with some great photo's for the weekend. Our first dive had 1-5ft vis....thats how bad it was. The class was a great help and a ton of fun to be in. Our first day of cancelled diving led to 6 hours + in the classroom and Tom and Therisa kept it fun for all of us.

I'm gonna wrap this up by saying I love how the 20D makes me seem competent and I want to thank the Stacks for sharing all the great tips and teaching me how to get past point and shoot photography. I'm writing this now and about to call up and book the October trip...3 more days should buff me up nicely :)
