problem with a DS125

12 posts
  1. Hi

I have buying DS 125 to Adorama in Frebruary 05 and since I receive it, he make a longuer noise when the unit is turned off and this noise stop only when the battery is empty or if I turn it on again of course!

I know that this noise must be brief when it's turned off and discharge the strobe but on my strobe it's a very longuer one and it's discharge the battery completely.

The only solutions I have found to stop this noise quickly and to save the battery charge are: turn on/off quikly and make some flash or I must disconnect the syncro cord which goes to the slave sensor.

Before sending the strobe to Ikelite, I wanted to know if someone have a solution for this problem.

    thanks and good bubbles B)

  2. I am an Ikelite employee. What you describe does not indicate a problem with your strobe, but rather a problem with your sensor. If you would send us your sensor and the strobe with battery pack we will take care of the problem for you.

  3. thanks for your answer

I think like you there's a problem on the sensor.

A friend on mine which had buying the same strobe at the same date to Adorama too has the same problem!!!

Is-it possible there's is a problem on the same serie of sensor?

I can't send it now because my hollidays are comming and I will go to Egypt at the end of october.I'll send it after during winter.

I think that my friend send his in the same time .

  4. Bypassing the Sensor with a sync cord directly from strobe to camera will indicate if Sensor is the problem............

  5. Just a note - as far as i know it's not good to fully discharge the DS-125's battery. Keep it charged.

  6. Hi guys

As Ike said, we have trying to bypassing the sensor and then there was no problem

So we think that effectivly the problem of our strobes come from the sensors since we have bought them this year.

The two strobes are on waranty. Must we send to Ikelite the two strobes or only the sensors?

Is Ikelite pay the cost shipping to the States and come back to France?

thanks for your answers and good bubbles B)

  7. I have talked to our shipping department and we have come up with a solution. If you would e-mail your address, and your friends, to repair@ikelite.com we will send new sensors out to you.

  10. has anyone had this same problem with the manual controller? My strobe makes the same noise and drains the battery (even when strobe is off) unless I disconnect the controller from the strobe...

I will contact Ike once I have been home and tried to bypass the controller as he suggested...

  11. Yes, there are some EV controllers that do that. The problem was fixed, so sending a new one would be the cure. When that happens, it normally only drains the batteries if it is left connected overnight.

  12. this kind of customer service response is one of many reasons that influenced me buying ikelite.
