Fuji S2-Sensor Death

7 posts
  1. I switched my trusty S2 on last weekend and tried to snap a test shot and all I got was a black screen. Well, after changing batteries, reformatting disks, and doing all the check-out things one would do to try and fix the problem, I realized that I needed professional help for the camera.

I took the S2 body to a local dealer and asked for help. The clerk watched as I demonstrated the problem and then said, "Oh, the black screen of death. We are seeing this quite often. Fuji isn't doing an official recall, but all the ones we have sent back have been repaired at no charge".

So anyways, here's the point of this post. If you have an S2 and are getting the black screen of death, send it back to Fuji and they will probably stand behind their product. Apparently there is an issue of reliability with the CCD and they are having to replace many of them.

    Best regards!

  2. It happened to one of my customer, the camera is at Fuji Canada at the moment, i'll keep an eye out to see how they behave on this side of the border.

    Cheers

  3. Has this problem appeared as an intermittent, or just a "sorry it's gone" failure?

  4. In this case it was a bye bye love affair, went out like a burned bulb no warning.

  5. Same for me. Bye, bye, birdee!

  6. Received my S2 back from Fuji. It was a Fuji Canada warranty and sent to Fuji U.S. repair center and was repaired at no charge. If this happens to you, send it in and have the CCD repaired.

    Hope this helps!

    Mike

  7. Happy ending. Always a crowd pleaser!
