D70 Bahamas gallery from the Shear Water

6 posts
  1. I have posted an update to my website. The latest addition is using my D70 on its 2nd trip. We were in the Bahamas on the Shear Water. The weather did not cooporate so we did not get to see the dolphins. We did get to do some tiger shark wrangling to

round out a couple of days.

As I mentioned this is the 2nd D70 trip first being in January in Saba and St. Kitts. Prior to that including last years Shear Water Bahamas trip I was using a Nikonos V with 15mm lens.

    Please comment away.

  4. Karl, Thanks for the good coments I appreciate it. I think I spent 15 minutes shooting that Fairy Basslet.

Alex thanks for the comments, I would like to take complete credit for the improvement from the previous years Shear Water trip but going DLSR from the Nikonos made a huge improvement. Not to knock the Nikonos which is a great camera espically with the 15mm but auto focus and esentially unlimited frames are my new friends. I no longer have to worry about waiting until the animal is in the DOF zone and then only getting one or two shotst. Being able to rattle off 4 or 5 shots on a shark pass really helps.

After the two trips with the d70 I really wich I had it on the Shear Water trip last year when the Great Hammerhead came by. At least I had two frames left. I am pretty sure after that dive last year Dave Haas knew I would convert to digital.

    Thanks,

    Brian
