  1. So took the camera out today, Nikon D100, been about a week since I used it last. In any mode the f/stop will not change it reads F--. Also the Auto Focus is not working. Changed battery, put on other lenses same thing, cannot adjut f/stop. Reset to factory settings still same problem. Any ideas???

  2. Remember that with Nikon dSLRs you have to set the lens aperture ring to the smallest value (in orange on newer lenses).

  3. Don't think that is the issue. I have checked each lens plus I always shoot AF and have not touched them since the last outing. Any other ideas?

    Thanks

  4. HI

I had this happen a couple of times on my F80.

i put it down to the contacts between lens and body

although i did'nt do much to fix it, just remove the lens inspected both and carefully cleaned contacts re-seated the lens checking all the switches on the lens itsself AF/M selectors and Aperture setting ring and it burst back into life.

sorry i cant help you anymore than that.

    regards

  5. FYI, so if your f.stop every reads f- - and the auto focus will not work; yes try cleaning the contacts AND if that does not work, it is your "auto focus circut board" about a US$280 fix.

  6. If cleaning the B/L (body / lens, top inside of lens mount) contact does not help the problem is most likely the FEE (minimum aperture switch) located just outside the lens mount in about the 7 O'Clock postion. The plastic tab is easily broken with incorrect lens installation. Also poor contact of the FEE switch can cause this problem. Less likely is the connections of the B/L flexible circuit and even less likely is the AF board.
