Finally I have decide!! - It will be a Nexus D70s

  1. Finally I have decide!!

It will be a Nexus multi finder model that will put my Nikon D70s underwater.

The reasons that I have chose Nexus are many but the most important are:

The quality of the housing. Realy I think that you can put the Nexus easly on the side with Seacam & Subal.

Housing size. Nexus housing is is small and light

Controls. You have really access to every button that Nikon have.

    Multi finder model.

Its come with 2 two pick up lens that you put inside the viewfinder

    1. x0.7 reducer lens for wide angle

    2. x1.2 magnifire lens, for macro

The best altenativ if you have not the money for the Grand viewfinders

Glas dome port especialy build for th 10,5 mm lens and only 330 grams heavy

That Nexus make new domes for Nikons digital WA Lenses is unik

Delivery Time: I will have my housing when I am going to Greece to Freedive

Personal Contact with my Dealer: I have buy many items in the past from him.

Support & advice was all the time very good and fast. I have never wait for a answer more that 1 day.

Recommendations from photographers whose opinion I trust.

On the end. Price: The offer was exelent!!!!!

Thanks again for the help to spent my hard earned euros on a housing

  2. Ops!! I have forgot to write what i have order:

A NEXUS D-70S housing, with dual Nikonos 5P sockets (multi viewfinder model)

A NEXUS FP-120-7 glass dome port special build for the Nikon 10.5mm

    Dome, Body, Port rear caps

A Nikon Af 10,5/2,8DX G ED fish-eye Lens is on the way

Alexs Magic Filter is to on the list.

My next buy will be a Inon 200F strobe.

I know, lighting the 10.5mm with only one strobe maybe sounds crazy

but I like to use it like fill light & to light just the main subject.

Then I am going for a Nikon Af 105/2,8D Micro-Nikkor.

    There one Strobe is enough

For Topside I have the Kit Objektiv 18-70

When the Housing arive i will loock to find a bag that is small enough

    for "carry on" on airplanes

  3. Lambis,

I'm glad the ordeal is over ( for all of us ) and you can go on to making photos now. I'm sure you'll be happy with your housing.

    Cheers

    James

...I'm glad the ordeal is over ( for all of us ).... :)

I really unterstand that i was a pain in th a... but on the end I have lern a lot and i hope that my questions may help others.

Whom should I ask if not the gurus in this forum that have play and use all the equickment that I only see in Photos?

But its not over.. wait untill i order my stobes :D ...Just kidding

  5. Good choice with the Nexus. They are a very good housing and tend to be underrated in the N. America and European markets. They are very popular in Asia.

It will be good to have another Nexus shooter in the Forums.

    Alex

  6. Thats so true Alex

Not only Nexus but as well other housings tend to be underrated.

In my research i have found many exelent housings.

They are some companies with more agressiv selling policy and others that do almost nothing like Hugyfot and Sealux. Off cource companies with a more agressiv selling policy the companies that have represetants in the forums will sell

more but it dosent mean that they are better.

What I have see is that there are housings that fits better to a specific model than others.

Like Seacam. Perfect for the big cameras but if you see the housings for the Nikon D70 is is to compact for me . I think that it will be problem with the ergonomy.

Look at Sealux. Cost almost the same like Ike. Very good housing, Aluminium - you can add a Gread viewfinder and good ports. Nobody take a notice.

I am sometimes on the German forum "uwpix.net" There Sealux is a king.

  7. Geography and distribution play a key role, there is a lot of good products available (including ours :D ) but if they are hard to get, then what's the point. If only free trade was something real instead of a bureaucratic pipe dream... it would make everybody's (read u/w photographer) life easier :P . we need more tread like yours Lambis, head scratching is always positive. Just glad we dont make flashes :D:) just kidding. have a good trip and please do share your pictures when you come back.

  8. Thanks Jean

Geography and distribution play a key role. You're right, no doubt about that.

At the end at this Forum are almost all the photographers that the industry make their money of :-)

I think that they must put at least one representativ at this forum so that we can have the infromation & support

I see Ike & Aquatica mostly at this forum. Where is Hugy? Where is Nexus? not a distibutor - THE COMPANY must be present. Read the forums, answer people's questions, see where people have problems and develop their products according to that.

The other point is the price. We are international and can just as easy compare the prices around the world as in our nearest stores. It must be something wrong when the same package have a difference of more than 1000 - 1500 dollars. The same setup!!

  9. Congrats Lambis, i hope you enjoy your new housing. Get some great photos and share.

    Have fun

    Mike

  10. Onya Lambis.

I'm relieved and happy for you. Well done on your selection and I'm sure you're thinking out loud will have helped others.

  11. Thanks Guys

You know.... when I see this forum and allt eh help and support of the people I am thinking that it would be a great Idea to meet somehow somewhere everybody. Stay some days and have some fun. I know is almost imposible but still...

I will teach you freedivig to !! After 3 days everybody will hold the breath fro 3 - 4 minutes :-)

  12. Does that mean i have to give up smoking?? Waters here are nice and blue though, was freediving with some Pilot Whales and Silkys the other day, not for 3-4 minutes though!!

That would help make things a lot steadier in video i think, come on out!

  13. Gee, I can hold my breath for 3 to 5 minutes already, eveready time I see a diaper full, just haven't done it underwater :D

  14. Lambis,

Contrats to you. Please, let all of us know result of your new dome port. Which flat port you are buying? Multi-Port ?? or regular AF port ??

    Sam

  15. Sam

I am (and others) very curius about this new dome. Of cource I will put some resultats.

I havent buy a Flat Port port . I have only a 10,mm nikon. My next Lens will be a 105mm and there I will order a port. Multi or dome I dont know.

  16. I agree with Lambis, especially on the Sealux D70 housing. Somehow Sealux has priced the D70 housing so far below their other housings, that this kind of aluminium housing is very attractive for such a low price and selling accordingly over here.

    @Lambis,

congratulations, enjoy your new toy :D

    Regards,

    Julian
