Andy Sallmon, in the Bahamas (July)

He looks professional, no? Check him out on page 3 of this month's Sport Diver mag. :)

  2. It looks like someone combed his hair just before the shot!

  3. nice makeup also

  4. Page 3 eh? Is that like a "page 3 girl?"

    Cheers

    James

  5. What camera setup does he have?

  6. Nikon F5 in a Sea and Sea housing if I remember correctly.

  7. It must take a lot of Gel to come off looking that good... or maybe...HCFM not just a member! ;)

  8. Eric,

In all seriousness, how did you get his face to "glow" in this photo?

Does he have an amber mask???

    Cheers

    James

  9. All kidding aside people Andy is a great guy to take a trip with and extremely helpful with any questions you may have.

  10. In all seriousness, how did you get his face to "glow" in this photo?

Does he have an amber mask???

You know what? I have no idea. I just snapped the photo, the same way I'd take a picture of a shark that size. ;) Andy loves this photo and it going to use it on his web page -- if he ever gets around to fixing it up. :)

  11. Here's a second shot -- a bit closer. I think his cheeks are just red. ;)

  12. In all seriousness, how did you get his face to "glow" in this photo?

From the shape of the mask, and the yellow glow, it looks like he's got a Seavision mask on, one with the amber lense.

    Just my guess though....

  13. "... Does he have an amber mask?"

No, without sounding insulting - it's what professionals call the correct exposure...

    Please note:

    1. His face is the same colour inside & outside the mask

    2. I am pretty sure replacement lenses are only available for twin lens jobbies B)

    3. That's not hair it's a 'dive rug'

  14. Here's a second shot -- a bit closer.  I think his cheeks are just red.

I think your white balance is biased towards red on these shots. The diffuser on the strobes should be white. The one closer to your camera looks a little pinkish-orange on my monitor.
