As I 'll probably stay by Subal for ports and housing I don't know if I have to order the housing with or without the big magnifier
As I think with the D70 it is necessary because of the small original viewfinder of the camera , I hesitate with the D2x and its bigger one.
Alex and the other owners of this housing , what are your opinions ?
Thanks a lot to help me deciding
Someone did mention that you only need one tool to remove/replace the Subal GS viewfinder. If you already have one for your D70, why not just swap it out (may be your dealer can help you with that) and try it out for yourself.
(I assume that you do have a GS viewfinder on your D70 housing).
I personally have one on my D2X housing and like it so far! In my mind, it is nice to have one but it certainly is not absolutely neccessary. Afterall, I used D70 in the past without the magnifier and it was ok. In a couple of days I will go on a week trip and hopefully I will be able to give more impressions of what I think on the GS viewfinder in general.
Hi Jerome,
I think viewfinder options are very personal. But for what it is worth I don't have a GS viewfinder for my D2x. I have shot the D70 both with and without the GS finder. And in fact while doing test shots in the Red Sea I was swapping between my D2x housing (no GS) and a D70 housing (+ GS) and it didn't make me want one.
Of course I would get one if it was free! And it was removable like the Seacam one - so that my housing would still fit in my suitcase.

Hi
I am currently using both a D2X and a D70 in Subal housings. I consider the optical finder essential for the D70 (perhaps an "old age failing eyesight thing"). For the D2X however I would consider it nice to have but an unnecessary expense.
Cheers Gordon
thanks a lot folks I think I ll order it without the gs system and dive a bit like that then i ll take a decision
first impressions for november, back in french polynesia :-)
