I am getting a Oly C-8080 with the PT-023 Housing as a gift. I am also brand new to UW Photo. Other than learning the camera above water what do I need to be on the lookout for? I will want to put strobe (s) on it later and I have heard about the TTL converter in Germany. Recommendations? Better to switch to the Ikelite housing later to avoid the converter?

Hi,
If you get the opportunity, I'd investigate switching to the Olympus 7070 as it is smaller, and has a better lens for underwater shooting.

Rep i can really recommend the Ikelite housing.
I had the Oly pt-023 until it let me down. This probably is due to the rough British weather.
The Ikelite housing is great as you can use a flash with out of the box.
You also need the bracket/handle on it to manage the camera underwater so you can clip it on.
Not that easy to do with the PT-023.
