I was just wondering if everyone keeps their diffuser on the strobes all the time?

Guess i'm going to mount a spotting light. Using the built in lights with the diffuser on limited it quite a bit. or maybe I can drill a hole in the middle for the light.

Hi, Everyone. Following this thread, I do have a question about targeting light.
I dive mostly in the New England and the water is merky. As for the strobes (two ds-125), I make them very far from each other and from the camera and point a little bit out. It's okay for a dive during the day but for the low light or night dive, the targeting light built in with the DS-125 is not strong enough for auto focus.
Does anyone mount another light for targeting? If so, what kind of light do you use? (I tried my flash light. I can see the lightened area in the picture. Maybe a flash light with wide angle is good...i think)
Thanks!

For night diving I use 2 UK40's for aiming and mostly for my main light. I do use the DS125's lighting features, but I really like to keep it dark and not torch the area I am searching subjects. The lights mount on a threaded juncture on the top of my housing. I use Ultralight brackets. They make all kinds of mounting brackets. I also use the aiming brackets for Ike's Mini C when I wamt more light. I don't rely on the strobes too much because of my aiming techniques and that the bulbs burn out too easily and are not real reliable.

Fantasea makes a very nice LED lite that has a bracket to mount on strobe arms, etc. I have mine connected to UCLS arms.

I have the FantaSea LED light - works very well and when mounted on the Aquatica housing I use it as my only night dive light - since it's hard to hold anything else in your hands with a big housing and two flashes.

Can everyone post of pictures of their setup with lights attached? I'm trying to see whats the best way to mount everything.

If you use a mounted LED light do you not find it's beam is visible in your photos?

No you wouldn't. When you are shooting macro you generally use high F-stops which require a lot more light than your aiming lights.
