I changed out the C batteries in my SB 104 flash battery pack with 3300 mAh NiMH batteries. I’m really impressed with the amount of extra power I now have on hand. To give you an example of the extra power. I always discharged my battery packs after every use with a 12 volt 50 watt light bulb. I charge and discharge them many times to keep them at their peek performance.
My original battery pack with a full charge would take 16 to 18 minutes to discharge. Nikon designed the original battery pack to give 120 full dumps per charge. Today I had taken 150 flashes at 1/8 and 1/4 power settings. When I discharged the remaining power in the new battery pack it took 54 minutes to fully discharge. Wow what a difference, I’ll never have to change a battery pack on the boat between dives again.
As you know theirs no need to discharge NiMH batteries because they do not have memory , Thank God !
PS
Does anyone know what the SB 104 output Kelvin temperature is ?
Marc
Thanks for the info Marc.
Here is what I found:
"De Nikonos SB-104 brengt licht in de diepten van de zee. Een krachtige flitser met richtgetal 16 (uitgedrukt in meters) bij 100 ISO onderwater. De kleurtemperatuur van 4700° Kelvin zorgt voor warme, natuurlijke kleuren. De flitshoek bedraagt 100°."
