Need Advice

  1. Hello All,

I am new to underwater photography although I have been diving for several years. I'm headed to the bahamas in a couple months and I'd like to get a camera before I go. Unfortunately, I've been somewhat overwhelmed by all the conflicting reviews of various cameras/housings/strobes/etc.

I am looking to spend approximately $800 and I am looking to get a good camera that takes good photos both underwater and on land. I need it to be usable by a novice but hopefully with enough flexibility to still be suitable as my skills improve.

I have read conflicting reviews about which cameras would best and whether or not a strobe is a necessity starting out (seems to depend on the camera). Also I'm not sure as to on any other accesories that may be necessary.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

  2. Hello,

Your question is too general to give you a good answer.

My advice is to look over this forum and also the beginner’s forum, there a lot of cameras and housing combination that mention there, try to peek some data and decide on few models that best filled your needs.

Then if you have detailed questions, for sure there will be here some answers for almost every issue.
