My cruel employer insists to send me to Mauritius for 2 weeks.
I ran a short search in the net and found that its not very recommended to come there especially for diving, but if I'm there I want to dive.
Does someone here have any recommendations?

As a masochist would like to have a employer that cruel... Wait I'm selfemployed ...
"You lazy bastard move your bl**dy a** to Mauritius! NOW!" ... ahh that feels better.
Ok serious again:
I learned diving on Mauritius a couple of years ago. becuase everything was so new I found it great. When I try to objectivate my expireience I would say Mauritius is a Typical Indian Ocen destination. Nice but nothing extraordinary. There are good chances for Sharks and Big fish at the more exposed spots (i never went there as a beginner). I would dive for sure!
From what I have heard the north west of the Island is the best part for diving.
For overwater shooting i would recommend a visit to the beautiful Pampelmouse Botanical garden.
If you are a golfer there are some more great possibilities to spend your time...

Thank's for the info.
I'll sure dive there, my only problem now is that I'm not sure if I'll have place for the work's laptop after I'll pack the diving equipment and all the photography gear <_<
I am planning to go there in future, before I took interest in diving. Keep in mind the Coelacanth was found nearby.
I went traveling & diving in Mauritius a few years back and was staying at a resort on the north side of the island called Le CoCo Beach Resort. Believe it or not, it had just opened up two weeks earlier and we were told that we were the 1st American to check in there. Since the resort offered diving in their packages, I found no reason to venture out to another destination. I was told by the locals that the north end was the best area for scuba, but did not have a reason to dis-believe them. Anyways, the diving was okay. BUT you must take the 15 minute plane ride over Isla de la Reunion (France's Hawaii) where you will find a much nicer atmosphere of pleasure! (maybe a weekend trip when you don't need the laptop, but take ALL of the photo gear) You will not be disappointed on this island both above and below the surface. On a clear day, you can go to the top of the Curepipe (extinct volcano) on Mauritius and see Reunion to the Northeast. Enjoy!!!
