What to Work on?

  1. I have put together a gallery of what I think are the best shots I have taken with my P&S. Now that I am stepping up to DLSR, I want to here what some of you seasoned veterens think of my work.

What will I have to think about differently with DSLR vs. P&S? Or, any other comments you might have would be appricated.

  2. You are doing lots of things right djkpsu!

You do a good job of getting low on your subjects a getting the eyeline. Your exposures are alright too. You are let down by using the internal flash from your PS, which means the bottom left of your images is not illuminated when you get too close! This won't be too much of a problem with your D70.

The 10.5 and 105mm are my fave lenses - but both take some getting used too. Good luck and I look forward to seeing your new stuff.

  3. Alex does have great advice but I would like to tell you what I found out on my recent transfer over ... The biggest thing to rememer is that Macro is easier ... start off doing some close ups ... get used to the rig that way ... it will help soi much ... I am still getting used to WA with my D60 ... however feel I am on a level par with the Macro as I was with PS .. however enjoying the extra closeness and the instant shutter.

WA is harder especially because in the switch you now have a lot more WIDE ... which means you are getting closer and so your lighting is way different .... and you have mush more scene to take into account .. and god knows how ever many thigns make it harder .. In my mind WA is always harder ... so get used to the equipment in Macro .. then when you are used to the rig give some WA a go ... from your photos it looks like you like close up Macro shot more anyway .. so this will probably work for you anyways.
