Flooded DS-125 experience?

5 posts
  1. On a dive last week one of my DS-125 strobes flooded.

I didnt think the front half of a DS-125 was water sealed but as far as I can tell the only damage is to the battery pack. I put my other battery pack on an it seams to work fine.

I would send it to Ikelite for servise, but my Insurance (DAN) has a minimum water damage deductable of $250 so if I can fix it with a $100 Battery pack I'd be saving quite a bit.

So, has anyone had a DS-125 flood and survive or am I just delaying the inevitable trip to Ikelite servise.

  2. I flooded my DS-125 once through the battery pack and nothing survived :) . I accidentally dropped the battery pack on the floor and did not notice at the time that there was a crack on the casing. Needless to say, after a dive, the whole thing was dead.

I sent the whole thing back to Ikelite and to my surprise, Ikelite repaired it for free. All I paid was shipping charge one way.

  3. Send it to Ike. I bet it cost less than your deductable. If the problem is only the battery pack they will tell you.

  4. The DS-125 strobe head is supposed to be waterproof and be undamaged should battery pack be flooded............

  5. Wow, Thanks for the info Ike.
