PT-027/Olympus 7070 questions

3 posts
  1. I just received (for my anniversary ;) ) an Olympus PT-027 housing and 7070 camera, two Inon D-2000 strobes and the new bayonet mount wide angle and close up lenses and lens caddy mounted on an Ultralight arm system.

I've previously used Olympus 3040, and 5050 systems with DS-125 strobes, so we'll see how this compares....I'll share pictures when I get back from Wakatobi, Indonesia this month. In the meantime....I need some help...

I just installed the Inon front port/mount base (28AD) to allow attachment of the bayonet mount lenes. I have not been able to find the instructions in English so just followed the pictures and intuition. I've looked on the Inon America and Inon Japan Websites to see if I could find Japanese instructions that could be translated into English online. No luck.

    My questions are:

    1. what type of O-ring grease should be used on the black O-ring that comes with the port. No grease came shipped with it.

Also, under item #8 in the Japanese instructions that come with the port shows a rotation of the port with the base facing up...I haven't got a clue what this means. Could this be instructions on how to remove the port??

    2. The port includes a base plate that engages over the threaded screw hole on the bottom of the housing. With the base plate in place the screw that holds the housing to the Ultralight arm system base can no longer engage. I've removed the spacer on the Ultralight base screw to allow the screw to engage, however without the spacer there is too much of a gap between the housing and the Ultralight base plate. Any suggestions? A smaller spacer was not included with the port.

Any help answering these questions or letting me know where I can find English instructions will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

  2. 1- The grease that came w/ your strobes, or your housing, is fine. I think the picture is illustrating how to remove the port if it has locked into place over time. There should be no reason to take it off, though...

2- ULCS has 1/8" spacers they use on their clamps, or TR-NKS trays. Swap the 1/4" spacer that was supplied on your TR-D w/ this. You could make due by stacking 3 or 4 SS flat washers together that you pick up locally, or I'd be glad to send you one in the mail.

  3. Hi Ryan,

First let me thank you for sending me out all the camera gear I ordered from you (at the last minute) last week. All arrived perfectly and on time for my trip!

Now, thanks for the info on the port. I did just as you suggested and it seems to work. Love the setup...and thank for the recommendation of the bayonet mount lenses and port. It is MUCH more stable than the supplied Olympus port.

Yes, I would like to order one of the spacers from you...don't know if it will arrive in time so I'll use the washers if need be. I'll call you to place the order.

    Thanks!
