  1. Sony has announced a digicam with a 10.3 mp APS size sensor. It has a Zeiss lens with a 24-120 equiv. lens.

Don't know about macro capacity but they do offer a macro lens that screws on.

Af uses a simpler autofocus assist light than the 828. I Assume it will be a good system.

It offers all the features you would expect on an entry level dSLR.

It is the size of a dSLR with lens attached. A problem if you want a small backup camera for your bulky dSLR.

A pop up LCD that may make a housing bulky. I like shooting thru the EVF on with my 8400 and it would be nice if a compact housing were offered using the EVF rather than the pop up LCD.

1000$ street price. Steep, but it gives you every thing a entry level dSLR with a good zoom would give you in a package alot of shooters might prefer.

Since Sony has a 10.3 mp CMOS sensor you might expect to see it in some dSLRs in the near future. It might be hard to put it in a 2500$ camera when you can get it in a 1000$ camera. So I might expect it in sub 1500$ cameras or one with a very good set of features (a digital F6?)

    Read about it on dpReview.

  2. O, and my pet pev. The housing manufactures need to offer a standard dome lens to take advantage of that 24 mm lens. A wide angle conversion lens from Sony will also be offered.
