Shutter Button for Coolpix 990

I was just looking at the Coolpix 990 in the housing. There seems to be those 2 protrusions at the two sides. I'm wondering if there's enough space for your hand to press the shutter button. Forgive me if this is a dumb question I never had a nikon with the housing. Only the naked camara.

Which housing are you talking about?

The Ikelite one. It looks the same as the one for the 995

I have that housing then.

There is a lever on the right that is used to press the shutter. I don't use my hand to press the shutter though - I use my right thumb. You have to get used to pressing it with your thumb instead of your index finger, but it seems to work pretty well.
