And for the non German takers: http://www.sealux.de/s1e.htm
Wow! Looks like a lower-cost alternative to the Subal housing with almost all of the features. I'm assuming that if you buy it outside Germany, you don't have to pay VAT, but rather your home country's import tax??
How are the Sealux ports?
Cheers
James
best of all: Sealux prepares a 5D housing ![]()

I was afraid I would have to switch brand and ports again. Although, I will continue for some time shooting the 10D underwater.
I am really surprised by the D2X housing prices on the english page.
It's half the price as on the german site which says over 2800 € for the housing without GD finder. I mean, we are used to being ripped off over here in comparison to other countries (some people buy Volkswagen cars in the USA because it's still cheaper in spite of the shipping back to Germany)
But I can't imagine 1400 (+VAT) vs. 2800 (incl. german VAT) because VAT is 16% over here. That's strange. Or maybe a mistake? Then you should order quickly ![]()
Sealux ports:
Well, the 180 dome port is the glass you find in Subal and UK-Germany housings too. 180F is for fisheyes (flat surface) and 180U better for wideangles (funnel / cone port shape for greater distance to the glass). However, you can use the 180F for wideangles too, like Subal.

I use the 180U domeport, one flatport and three extension rings:

Yes, I too thought it was a mistake when I saw that Julian. Seems strange - order now! :-)

Hi James,
I've just noticed that the D2x prices on the English page are identical to the D70 housing prices. I'll order a bunch of D2x housings and resell them for my 5D upgrade ![]()

edit: I always knew housings have become to expensive ![]()
It looks really nice. I am looking forward to seeing it in Antibes in a few weeks.
Glad to see that all the controls are labelled. I have been surprised how many housings don't both with this.
