Pelagic Tunicate

  1. Since James broke the ice with his submittion, I'll put in one for comments. Shot this at Monterey California a couple of month ago. I posted another shot of the same subject on this board in the Member Photos section here. I still have not decided which one I should keep and show people.

  2. Herb,

What did you use to get your EXIF information out to post in this thread? I would like a quick way to grab it and I'm sure everyone else would too.

    Cheers

    James

I use irfanview . Very handy little app. Also, does a great job of batch scaling, webpage, thumbnails and slideshow. All that at a very reasonable price.

  4. Also, check out Breeze Browser (if you are a PC person). I would go insane without that program. ;)

Herb, i thought IrfanView was freeware ? Did you pay for it or donate ?

I upgraded to V3.75 recently and it was free.

  6. You can download it for free but Irfan Skiljan (the developer of that software) ask for register/donate by sending US$ 10.00.

  7. He certainly deserves it, Irfan View is one of the few satisfying software products i know ;)

  8. I use PIE or Picture Information Extractor by Picmeta.

The thing is, that's a separate app that I have to open, unless you use one of these programs for ALL of your file browsing.

Right now, I use Window XP's thumbnail browsing and think it's pretty good. Maybe they will add the EXIF info to the file properties on the next version.

    Cheers

  9. Herb,

I like the picture you posted much better than your other one here:

    orig.jpg

The reason? I like a sharp foreground in the photo and this one doesn't have it - maybe that's just due to the gelatinous nature of the tunicate.

The one you posted has much more detail and I like the way you can see through the tunicate into the "organs" it gives it a more visceral nature.

  10. IMHO the arrangement of the second picture (posted by James) is better, but i'm getting a bit dizzy looking at it because it seems to be out of focus.

    I'd show the first one.

    Sabine

  11. Thanks Sabine and James for your comments. Most people who has seen both shots prefer the one I posted on this page. I like that other one a little better when I first looked at them, but I think you are right the foreground looks out of focus in that one.

Sabine. I was joking about "a reasonable price" for irfanview. Should have included a ;) .
