  1. I am currently shooting UW photos with a Nikon Coolpix 2100 in an Ikelite housing. I picked this system to sample UW dig photography prior to learn a few things prior to a major financial investment.

I am extremely happy with the shots, especially the macro stuff. Pretty remarkable photos sometimes. Of course, there is a significant backscatter issue with anything beyond 8 inches.

In my closet I have an Ikelite substrobe A35. This strobe does not work well with they set up due to the preflash. I was writing to see if you had any advice or experience with this problem. I apologize that I am not entirelyfamiliar with all the terminology, but I assume this strobe acts as a slave, the photo cell is triggered by the built in strobe. Is is possible to use a cord to eliminate the pre-flash problem. More importantly, do you think it is a worthwhile use or a waste of time.

    thanks

    Jim

  2. I think there is no way to use a cord with that strobe. It is an optical strobe only.

Your only hope is to use a camera with no preflash, or a camera where you can turn OFF the preflash (like the Olympus 5050).

    Sincerely,

    James
