For Sale: Complete Sea & Sea MDX-D300 kit with Nikon D300 Camera, Lenses, Ports, Strobes, Arms and Accessories
Selling a complete Nikon D300 kit with Sea & Sea MDX-D300 housing, ports, camera, lenses, strobes and accessories. Selling because I haven't been doing as much diving recently, and I tend to bring my GoPro when I do get to go diving these days. The D300 is a lovely piece of kit and deserves to be used rather than sitting in storage. Included in the sale: Nikon D300 camera body (boxed), with 2 x batteries, strap, charger Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 12-24mm f/4G IF-ED Zoom Lens Nikon AF Nikkor DX 10.5mm f/2.8G ED Fisheye Lens Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D Macro Lens Sea & Sea MDX-D300 Housing (06134) Sea & Sea NX Standard Flat Port (56101) Sea & Sea NX Fisheye Dome Port (56401) Sea & Sea NX Compact Dome Port (56601) Zen 100mm Optical Glass Dome (DP-100-SN) Sea & Sea Extension Ring 40 Sea & Sea Focus Gear for Micro Nikkor 60mm F2.8D Sea & Sea Zoom Gear for Nikkor 12-24mm 2 x Sea & Sea YS-D1 Strobes with original 100 and 120 degree diffusers plus CM Dome diffusers and neoprene covers Sea & Sea TTL Converter III N (50112) 3 x Sea & Sea 5-pin Sync Cord/N (17100) H2O-Tools Strobe Arms & Clamps Underwater Kinetics Aqualite Focus Light Sundries (spare o-rings, silicone grease, port and housing covers, memory cards, vacuum pump, 77mm diopters, carrying strap, lanyard etc) Rigid transport case with padded dividers This is a complete kit, ready to go with absolutely everything you need for both macro and wide-angle photography. Everything is in good condition, never flooded and in perfect working order. Everything was either bought new by me or bought from a friend of mine who had bought it new. The housing was serviced (Aquaphot UK) before I put it away last time and hasn't been used since. The housing has been fitted with a combined vacuum leak and moisture detection system and it holds vacuum over a weekend with periodical use of all of the controls. The Sea & Sea MDX housings are beautifully made, machined from a solid aluminium billet and will last forever if they are looked after as this one has been. There are a couple of scratches on the shade of the Compact Dome Port and on the Zen Dome Port. There is also a small scratch on the glass of the Zen Dome but it doesn't appear in the images. Based on the price of the individual items currently available from reputable dealers the whole package looks to be worth about €4,000 but I'm open to reasonable offers. Not prepared to split the package at this stage. Located in Ireland (Dublin), buyer pays shipping or collects. DM me with any questions.

Zen Dome Conversion
Thanks @Chris Ross @Architeuthis That all looks like good advice, I'll mock it up when the new kit arrives and see what depth of adapter is needed, the 8mm Zuiko does look to be quite a physically long lens compared to other fisheye options (including the Panasonic Lumix 8mm), so it may be that one of the stock N85 to N120 adapters will work.

Thanks @humu9679 , Never got to dive Hawaii but it has been on my bucket list from a young age. Passed through a few years ago on my way to Truk, swam on Waikiki and paid my respects at the USS Arizona but didn’t get to dive. Hopefully next time.

Thanks Maria, Yes, the vis can be epic alright. In late August / early September I have had 30+ metres visibility (cover boat visible from the bottom) on sites like Ling Rocks off Kinsale or Dolus Head just north of Valentia, and off the northwest coast (Donegal) the vis can be even better - think of Leigh Bishop's natural light images of wrecks like the SS Justicia and HMS Audacious. As for pics, I'll post some when the results aren't completely embarrassing. 🙂

Zen Dome Conversion
Hi All, Looking for some advice on modifying a Zen dome. I have a 100mm (4") Zen DP-100-N120N dome which I use for CFWA with a Nikon 10.5mm fisheye. I'm planning to move to Micro 4/3 (OM1 Mk. II in Nautcam) and would like to bring the dome with me. Nauticam make a couple of N85 to N120 adaptors but they all seem to be too deep to use with the Olympus 8mm lens I am planning. The base of the dome seems to be held in place with a series of allen head bolts so presumably it just unscrews. Does anyone know if you can buy a replacement base doe the dome to convert it to a DP-100-N85 that I can use with the Nautical extension ring or is there another port adaptor out there that would work? Appreciate the advice.

Prescription Masks
I can highly recommend Prescription Dive Masks in San Diego USA. I have a prescription just over +5 on one side with some spherical and +2 on the other. They made me a single vision for the +5 side and a bi-focal on the other for gauge reading to go in my Cressi Big Eyes Evo. Honestly it's like being 20 again. Not cheap but worth it. The only drawback is I spent some time getting lost on dive sites which I know well, it turns out that they don't actually look like what I thought they did when everything was fuzzy. There is a company in Australia that offer the same product line and another called Dive Sight in Sheffield but neither of them replied to my enquiry. There's also a couple of companies that I subsequently found in Poland and Slovakia.

wet lens thread stuck on flip holder
Try sitting the flip holder in hot water. Keep as much of the lens clear of the water as possible. You are trying to heat the holder so it expands to make it easier to remove. If you heat the lens also it will expand just the same as the holder and you will be in the same position as before.

Greetings from Ireland
Hi All, New to this site, diving 40 years, underwater photography started as a small child snorkelling over 50 years ago (anyone remember the Agfa Guppy system using 110 cartridge film?) but my habit didn't get out of hand until about 25 years ago. Shot stills exclusively until discovering GoPro 8 or 9 years ago, capability of equipment far exceeds talent and ambition! Still diving a Drager rebreather (hence the handle), a really great rig for photography. D.
