Seafrogs housing with canon 8-15 or Tokina 10-17 ?
Hello On this page : SALTED LINE Europe / Sea Frogs EuropeSea Frogs Salted Line Underwater Camera Housing for Sony...Sea Frogs Salted Line Underwater Camera Housing for Sony A7III/A7RIII | 6'' V7 Dome Port | Acrylic | White 90mm Bayonet|40m/130ft|6'' V7 Dome Port|Acrylic|White Also available on the Sea Frogs' websit We can see that v7 dome ports would work with Compatible Lenses: Sony Lenses: Sony FE 14mm F1.8 GM (autofocus, manual focus gear available) Sony FE 28-60 F4-5.6 (autofocus, manual zoom gear available) Sony FE 28mm F2 + Fisheye Converter SEL057FEC (autofocus only) Focus Gear not Available Sony FE 28mm F2 + Ultra Wide Converter SEL075UWC (autofocus only) Focus Gear not Available Sony FE PZ 16-35mm F4 G (autofocus, manual zoom gear available) Sigma Lenses: Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN E-Mount (autofocus, manual zoom gear available) Canon Lenses: Canon EF 8-15mm F4L Fisheye USM + EF to FE-Mount Adapter (autofocus only) Zoom Gear not Available Samyang Lenses: Samyang AF 14mm F2.8 FE E-Mount (autofocus only) Focus Gear not Available Tamron Lenses: Tamron 11-20mm F2.8 Di III RXD E-Mount (autofocus, manual zoom gear available) I also saw this on instagram : https://www.instagram.com/reel/DRia9c7km4t/?igsh=MWcxcHpjYnF6a2Fwdw== And in the comments they said that no vignetting at 15mm with the setup used. And a quick video on youtube showing that the buyoncy seems good : Concerning the fov, I currently have a Sony 16mm with fisheye converter so is should be equivalent to 10mm fisheye on apsc. So if i m not wrong, it should be the same fov as the tokina 10-17 at 10mm on apsc or the canon 8-15 at 15mm on full frame. Is it correct ? I agree that i don’t need zoom gear for the canon because i would use it at 15mm. I also have the Sony 10-18 with the 7’´ nauticam dome port and i used it just a couple of time because i prefer the fisheye fov.

Seafrogs housing with canon 8-15 or Tokina 10-17 ?
Hello I am searching for any feedbacks and/or advices concerning the use of canon 8-15 with a seafrogs housing. In fact, it seems that seafrogs now allows to use Sony fullframe with canon 8-15 with either 6 and 8’´ dome ports V7. Anyone has any feedback of this setup? I don’t see other cameras in their port chart to use with this lens. For APSC, unfortunately ,I still don’t see the tokina 10-17 in the APSC port chart…Someone already tried it? Thank you

Sony a6500 vs Canon R7
Another cheap option : what do you think about sea frogs salted line for Sony A7III ? https://www.saltedlineeurope.com/products/seafrogs-saltedline-underwater-camera-housing-for-sony-a7iii-a7riii-6inch-v7-dome-port?variant=50842460356955 It is written that 6" or 8" dome ports (acrylic or glass) would work with the canon 8-15 fisheye (without zoom gear). For flash triggering , the flash trigger cost only 50 euros but it will not allow TTL...

Sony a6500 vs Canon R7
Hello, Thank you again for all your replies and advices. Yes I shoot also videos . I always put a GoPro on the top of the sousing but I can take better videos than a Gopro, it is a pro to consider. I will try to sum up in order to sort my thoughts so far: Canon R7 vs Sony A6xxx (I'm not talking about the a6700 that I don't know) : Canon is better (for my use) on almost every aspect of: better autofocus (with EF lens), better white balance for video, better video options (oversampled 4k 60p), better battery life, better flash sync speed... BUT there is a major cons : No TTL with my current strobes... Concerning this point, I don't really understand why it would not work because the camera "talks" with the TTL converter and then the TTL converter send the good amount of light trough the fiber optic. That means that Ikelite strobes don't "interpret" the amount of light the same way as other brands... That is really annoying... Canon R7 vs other Canon R camera : regarding the price of a used R7, I think that I prefer to go with a R7 without compromise on 4K frame rate, Ibis or Megapixels... Canon R50 could have been acceptable regarding the weight but the fixed flat port for Nauticam is a show stopper for me Concerning housing brands : Nauticam is really too expensive for me (housing, ports, domes...) So, I'm still considering Ikelite but the lack of TTL with no Ikelite strobes is really annoying... With Ikelite, it would also be possible to buy 2 dome ports (without having to sell my house for the second dome lol) : the classic 6'' and a bigger 8" for split shots and paired it with a canon 10-18 RF lens... Another note : I had confirmation that with the updated Ikelite housing for canon R7 , zoom gear and port, it is possible to put the camera with the tokina 10-17 lens without to remove the dome port. The R7 can also be a great second camera (paired with Canon R full frame) for safari travels for example.

Any ideas for family trip ?
Wahou. The visibility was not great but what amount of mantas! As I said earlier, at which period di you go? During the wet season? If so, what was the weather? Did you stay on a local island like digurah or on a resort island? It would be perfect to combine a nice island with a very good house reef (black tips, curls, eagle rays...) with boat trips to hanifaru

Any ideas for family trip ?
Thank you again to all for all your replies ;-) @CaolIla : the encounter with whale sharks should have been awesome @John Liddiard : New Zealand , like Hawaii , Australia, French Polynesia : really too far away @John E : Maldives is really an option but the number of isalnds is overwhelming ... from what I understood : During the good season (which would be end of February to match with school holidays) : big resorts are way too expensive for us. So, maybe the solution is to go on a local island but I can't find one which check all the boxes : Digurah : nice beaches but not a lot of underwater life in the house reef Ukulhas : it seems to have a lots to see underwater but a lot of construction in progress on the island and a lot of garbage Dharavandhoo (kia beach hotel) ? any feedbacks? Other islands? During the wet season (in august for the school holidays) : hotel are cheaper and hanifauru bay would have whale sharks and manta rays . So, it would be possible to have a nicer hotel but with high chance of rain... @Dave_Hicks : I think that Baja is one of the best destination for the variety of big animals but corruption is a thing that I can't stand. I just read the post about the scam with camera housing at the airport : that's crazy!

Any ideas for family trip ?
Thank you. For dolphins, it is "only" dolphins watching and not snorkeling? @OneYellowTang : thank you very much. Palau : it looks very beautiful before very remote place. Maybe an idea to keep when my daughter will be a little bit older Solomon Islands : awesome but too far away Belize : sounds good. Do you have more information concerning the places where we can swim with dolphins? It seems that it is also possible to dive with them. On land wildlife looks good too ;-)

Any ideas for family trip ?
Thank you very much for your answers. Manado is good for big animals? I Thought that it was more for macro. Thank you for all these ideas. Galapagos : I just talked about it with my wife and she is scared by the iguanas lol Australia and Hawaii : too far away Dominican Republic for humpback whales : could be a good one. I will have a closer look Costa Rica: I think it is forbidden to go in the water with dolphins, right?

Sony a6500 vs Canon R7
Yes . You are right. Sorry. The Canon R7 needs, at least, a manual flash trigger. Concerning Nauticam vs Ikelite : i am convinced that Nauticam is better but the price is prohibitive... Maybe if I find one used but it would probably be for an older camera model like maybe an a7II/a7rii but bigger than an apsc housing... About fisheye lenses , I had in mind : Tokina 10-17 for APSC Canon 8-15 for full frame -> So this lens makes sense for APSC as well? On ikelite port chart, I see that with for Sony E mount, Tokina 10-17 can be used either with a 6" dome port or a 8"dome port (good for slept shots). 6" dome port is too big in order to handle easily ? FOr Canon R7 : also 6" or 8" dome port but no zoom possible for the 8". On Nauticam side, which dome port can be used for the tokina 10-17 for Sony e mount and for canon APSC? I don't see any possibility in the port chart Sticking with Nauticam : For Canon APSC -> I don't see the rtokina 10-17 in the port chart For Sony full frame : for using the canon 8-15 : N100 to N120 adapter + N120 Extension Ring 30 II + 18802 (8.5" Acrylic Dome Port) so it seems very big @Chris Ross : I never looked at the m4/3 world but maybe it is a good option if it is cheaper, lighter and minimal image quality reduction compared to APSC or full frame. Which camera model would you recommend? with an adapter and the canon 8-15? Thank you very much for your detailed answers :-)

Any ideas for family trip ?
Hello I am searching for ideas for our next family trip. We live in Paris. We are 3 : My 8 years old daughter wo loves snorkeling My wife : she tried diving a couple of times but she prefers snorkeling Me : Advanced open water with about 50 dives So we are searching for destinations in order to see big animals : dolphins, whales, manta rays, sea lions, sharks… We already went in Marsa Alam and enjoyed it but I would not go again in Egypt for the moment regarding the situation in the Middle East. Last summer, we went to Reunion Island but no luck because it has been a year without humpback whales. So, do you have any ideas with easy snorkeling and chances to see one of the animals listed above? + a couple of nice dives for me. For the period , it would be end of February or in august. For the moment I thought about : French Polynesia : too expensive , too far away and my daughter is too young Baja California : it is also far away and the plane is very expensive from France Maldives : in February, it is the peak season so nice hotels are very expensive. Maybe a local island with a good house reef? Or waiting for august in order to have cheaper hotels, manta and whale sharks at hanifaru bay because very risky concerning the weather…? Curacao : it seems that it is not very good for big animals? Bimini : snorkeling with dolphins ans diving with hammerhead in February? But nothing else to do on the island Other Ideas? Maybe cheaper and / or closer? Azores in august but again maybe my daughter is too young Thank you for your help.

Sony a6500 vs Canon R7
Hello, I have a Sony Nex 5N in a Nauticam housing. I use it with the 16mm and fisheye converter with the 4,33 ‘’ dome port. And 2 sea&sea Ys110a with fiber optic. So, I shoot only wide angle and what I like the most are big animals : sharks, whales, dolphins, manta rays… This setup is more than 10 years old. So, image quality is not very good and the housing begin to not work very well : for example, the trigger button sometimes doesn’t come back at his initial position. But I really like the size of this setup. So I m thinking about an upgrade. For the moment, I have 2 ideas: Sony a6500 with an Ikelite housing with a sigma mc11 or meta bones + tokina 10-17 . What I like is the fact that the camera has an internal flash to my current flash will work in TTL with fiber optics. But this camera begins to be old and investing a lot of money in an underwater setup is maybe not the best idea… A canon R7, again in an Ikelite housing with an RF to EF adapter and Tokina 10-17. The camera is more recent , better custom white balance for video but I would need to buy TTL trigger and my current flashes will only support manual and not TTL. What do you think about these ideas? I mentionned Ikelite and not Nauticam for example because it is much cheaper and the port chart includes the Tokina 10-17 Other options? I also have a question concerning the flashes. Ikelite ECKO seems to be really light and small. Anyone already tried them? Which results to expect comparing with my sea & sea Y100a? Note: I also use my housing a lot for snorkeling Thank you for your help.
