About Me
Kadu Pinheiro is an pro underwater photographer, Scuba Diving Magazine and Sport Diver staff. Since 2004, his mission is to explore the world, especially below the waterline, revealing new horizons and sharing his point of view – whether through images, articles, books, websites and all forms of communication.
Currently Kadu Pinheiro is the Editor of Diveduc Magazine, Kadu also works on two more digital media projects, Sea Explorers, a diving destination tour guide, made 100% by the photographer based on all the places he has visited around the world, and the Scuba News portal, which was created as a Sea Explorers blog area and ended up taking on a life of its own and today it acts in a responsible and punctual manner with relevant news for the diving market, with a focus on the environment and image.
“With my work, I seek realization of the moments, rather than simply portraying reality. Photography can operate its miracle of bringing light where darkness prevailed, can freeze emotions. Each image carries the photographer’s eye and also the interpretation of who sees it.”
“In my journey, I try to capture the essence of the landscapes, the objects, the animals and the people I portray. I seek the magic hidden in every scene. For me, photography is to eternalize unique moments and perpetuate feelings.”
Kadu’s portfolios were published in several international magazines, such as DYK and Buddy Potapeni; he also collaborated with the world’s largest dive magazines, mainly Sport Diver. In Brazil, he was a photographer for Revista Mergulho and created the first diving e-magazines in the country, Underxmag and Divemag, besides contributing with several others diving and tourism publications.
A technical diver, he specializes in cave photography and has taken part in explorations in Mexico and Belize. His photos and videos have already illustrated stories from The New York Times, Yahoo, Daily Mail and other major global media outlets.
Among the most recognized moments of his career, there is the participation in a National Geographic piece about the connection of the largest underwater cave system system in the world, Sac Actum and Dos Ojos, in Mexico, including his photo of a gonfoterio’s jaw (prehistorical elephant ancestral).
Kadu is a underwater photography and recreational diving instructor for NAUI and IANTD. He teaches underwater photography courses and workshops throughout Brazil and around the world, in partnership with Bluewater Photo, supported by Aquatica Digital (waterproof case), Ambassador of Hollis Gear (diving equipment), Sea Shepherd and Blue Force Fleet
