I Grant,
By coincidence, I decided to bring my same-problem D1 yesterday to a small Sea&Sea distributor here in Asia. I was quite lucky, finding a very experienced old man behind the desk. He did several tests for free but unfortunately could not fix it and added that is the main board, so not possible fixing. He gave me this restart sequence sheet attached for the D2 and told that sometimes he manages to fix some D1 units with it. You might try it.
In addition, he also told and showed me why many D1 and D2 strobes flood, and it is due to the fiber cable socket, which after a while gets micro cracks and let the water come in. He advised to change it for a new sturdier one usually mounted on the D3 (attached pic too) strobe model, and I did the replacement for just $20 bucks. Totally worthy to avoid future floods if you have any more D1 or D2 strobe units.
So far, I will keep using my "damaged D1" at medium power which works perfectly until it breaks down completely, and find another brand for new strobes. Sea&Sea has given me too many problems since 10 years ago.
Regards.
