.....I commend some of the talented individuals whom have modified and advanced the features of the Phenom. Most professionals who understand their gear (yet cannot manufacture it themselves) do modify and change things that the manfacturer hasn't. Heck, spend some big bucks with Sony and see if they will answer your calls or play the violin for you when you bitch about their product flaws. Everything i own has some sort of modification.
No housing on the market ( regardless of the price ) is 100%. ....

Thanks for your input. However I doubt Amphibico wants your endorsement that their products doesn't work well and need customizing to work as advertized. Since you own a F900, then you know that you can input custom gamma curves etc to play with color balancing. Now if that didn't work, then you'd be calling Sony to ask why and demand an answer. Or if the sensor is misaligned and you are getting a bad picture. It's suppose to work as advertised so long as it is within the design boundaries.
Shawnh and Wagsy's gripe about electronic white balancing are the equivalent of a non working aspect in the product, at least on their units. If Amphibico believes EWB is working correctly in their housings, then they will fix the ones that don't EWB properly.
Obviously, having spent $6k and change and having to send it back (in paul's case, from Australia ) to Montreal is an expense and a pain. So a little grumbling isn't out of line as it is human. What is more important is that Amphibico may realize there is a flaw in the manufacturing process and alleviate an unnecessary post sale, as they did with the VH2000 housing with the circuit boards.
As for modifications, you say modifications are a necessity in the field. I agree to a point. If the housing lacks a feature and it is vital for your needs, you find a way to get it done. You'll void the warranty but hey it works. Workarounds are great for features not available in the product, but not for a feature that doesn't work as advertised and one has to live with it. That is neither good business nor marketing logic.
Have also been picked by the AUS ABC TV here to make 20x5 min clips each fortnight. They are sending us a HDV A1 camera, mike, tripod, carry bag, bat, and tapes to make the clips which by the way we get to keep. We will be on National TV/WEB each forninght and there will be 5 teams of people from around Australia doing the clips. Going to give us huge exposure...... I will also be able to compare the quality between the A1 and FX1, may have to get a housing for it, now what brand shall I buy........
Paul Congrats on the ABC gig. After 4 weeks of intensive use of the A1, I think you'll see the differences are greater than you think once light drops to 50lumens. I'd use black stretch and cinegamma 1.
