You will probably be able to spot which shot is his! But it is up to you which one you vote for...

    Alex

  2. nice one JP

    thanks for the link Alex...

  3. Congrats, JP!

So you have now won this and an award at Antibes with my lens. That is fantastic.

And to think I scratched the front element of my 10.5mm when I first got it back in 2003. That must be the secret.

    Alex

  4. Congrats! It is a great shot!

    Luiz

  5. Great shot, congratulations on that. It's a beauty. So that was with the specialty lens??

    Rand

  6. Thanks ! I'm very pleased to win with an underwater image in a general photography competition. Now I need to do some work for the assignment.... ouch !

Alex, can I have your scratched lens in exchange for my new one ? ;)

    Congrats! ;);)

    Tom ;)

  10. Well done. :)

Must have been my vote that put you over the top. ;)

  11. Hi. Great shoot. It´s pass a powerful sensation !!

    regards

  12. I spoke to the guys at the BBC this morning. I have the choice for the assignment. Obviously, I want to do my bit to promote the underwater world.

I wonder what exotic destination to choose ! Great whites in Guadalupe ? Pygmies in Lembeh ? Edible crabs on the South coast of Britain ? hmmm... Maybe not the edible crabs. B)

  13. By the way, Todd, it could well have been your vote ! It was that close !

    Beer's on me, then ! ;):):)

You could choose the West Coast of British Columbia, Canada. Cousteau said it was the best in the world. I go every year because it is that good. IMAX was there this year.

Then you could buy the beer. ;)

  15. Cousteau said everywhere was the best world at some point or other, Todd! But BC would be very cool. I agree.

JP, definitely do something that is big and exciting as it needs to appeal to average punter on the BBC website. But you also want something reliable - otherwise it will become pretty stressful if the critters aren't turning up.

I'll caht more when I see you this evening.

    Alex

  16. Hmmm, Mantas are big, Yap is reliable...you can see the BSoUP trophy...and i can sell you the photos if you screw up!

Damn that Cousteau. I did not know that.

But, as you said BC would have some impact. The coloUr rocks and big critters...well Humpbacks, Orcas with a few Sea Lions and Seals. Giant Pacific Octopus but, they skunked us this year. One year we got sick of them there were so many.

    Have fun with it! :D

  18. I think Yap is out of bounds for my wallet, unfortunately :D But I'd love to see the trophy ! And I need to bring you that copy of Diver mag, which I promised you such a long time ago.

Todd, when you say BC would be very cool, how many layers underneath the drysuit are you talking about ? I'd love to have an orca picture on my hard disk !

    JP

  19. Awe only one layer. 9C or 48F water temp.

Heck just for fun I told my zipper to leak each dive. Just enough to put a chill on the end of the dive.

If you want warm water...you should join Alex for Bahamian Tiger sharks and dolphins. I think he is doing that this year.
