  1. Hi all, after many years we've finally managed to get a website up and running with some of our images. You can also find tripreports there, including some recent ones about the Solomon Islands and Wakatobi. See http://underwa.ter.net.

  5. Great work Cor and Julie(Bella!)

  6. Nice job. Julie has some outstanding super macro shots (love the pygmy seahorse) and I enjoyed Cor's images, especially the preying mantis.

  7. Those are fantastic shots. How do you get the background so black? :)

  8. Background of what image? Usually you get it black by making sure there is no background and picking a small enough aperture (f22 or so).

Also remember to set the shutter speed to a high value. 1/125 works for me, but if you are in ISO 200 you may need to go higher. Most cameras synch up to 1/250.

  10. Actually, I guess you meant the preying mantis. I took that at Wakatobi. It had dropped on another diver's shoulder, and he was wearing a black wetsuit. You can slightly see the wetsuit bottom left of the image, the rest is just shot into an empty background. The preying mantis needed so little light the wetsuit barely showed up.
