After seeing some awesome macro results with converters on this page I am tempted to buy one myself.
But wich one is the best for macro use? The canon 2X extender seems to be sharp but it appears to be designed for use with their white telelenses.
What are you using and are you happy with the results?

Hi Jonas,
after try Sigma and Kenko teleconverters I choose Tamron Pro Series, I have both SP AF1.4x or SP AF2x. For my poor eyes the Tamron TCs give a better final image with good contrast and sharpen details. I'd used with my 20D with no problems.

Vanar, I see you have the Canon 60mm macro lens.
There are curently NO teleconverters by any brand that are compatible with the Canon 60mm macro lens.
In order to mount any teleconverter to the Canon 60mm macro, you must put the newest MKIIversion of the Canon Brand 25mm or 12mm extension tube between the teleconverter and the lens. No other extension tubes are compatible with the 60mm Macro lens.
The good news is that once you have the extension tube inbetween, you should be able to mount any teleconverter, including the canon teleconverters.

But for now I'm only interested in the different teleconverters and how they perform in general with any macro lens.
To further expand on the 60mm with TC... In too much of hurry one day, I mounted the TC to my 60mm. Was waaaay too close to the subject for that setup.
It's very difficult to acquire your subject, the DOF is so shallow, you can miss it and the next thing you know, you're up against it. The 105mm (100mm in your case) lets you stand off just enough to prevent damage to the subject or it's enviroment. Not saying you can't use the 60, just be very careful.
I'm using the Kenko Pro 2xtc. I've not tried anything else so, no advice other than to say I've been happy with the results.

Jonas, for some reason, unlike telephoto lenses, macro lenses are not very demanding of Teleconverters. Any teleconverter will perform satisfactorily.
