I am about to purchase a new digital projetor. It wil be run off a PC lap top and will be used for presentations in snall to medium rooms. Unit should be compact as it will travel to trade shows.
What are key specs to look at?
Any one have a good unit??
Dogs to stay away from??
Thanks in advance,
Allan
My club bought a Benq DLP projector and we're very pleased with it. DLP gives a better contrast ratio than LCD and this seems to improve the colours in pictures.
The things you want to consider and compare:
Resolution - VGA, XGA, HD
Contrast ratio
LCD or DLP
Lumens - brightness
I'm using a Mitsubishi XD400U than I'm very happy with although it's the only one I've owned. It has a feature called sRGB that produces projected color that's very close to what I see on my computer screen. I've seen a lot of digitally projected presentations that have looked just horrible so this would be a prime consideration for me.
Old topics, but may still be relevant (search is good!):
We have a Dell 2300MP projector, it is very good. The brightness and resolution are really great, and it is small and light (weighs less than 5 pounds!).

I have the Infocus 70+ projector. I use it for home theatre as well as presentations. In fact, I have a presentation tonight at the Vancouver Maritime Museum and will be using it.

Based on our experience:
Stick with DLP
We use both the NEC LT-260 (an old one now) and the new LT-30. The latter offers excellent performance for its price. It is a 2600 lumens unit. A bit of overkill in small rooms but once you get a larger screen (9ft+) it is brilliant.
The very small Dell 3400MP is a decent performer, with a good price point. We use it too but stricktly as a back-up.

I never used it, but one of the guys that works with me, just got this one
