I will chase some up your way. Alaska I hear is a good place........
However remember it's best to swim just in your speedo's as it will be easy then to keep up and free dive to take pics.

Alaska? Are you kidding? ![]()
Caribbean sounds more plausible.
If you want a sure thing, go Galapagos in June - July.
Try Holbox in the mexican caribbean...July-August...
There is a place in La Paz called Club Cantamar. They use an ultralight plane to spot whale sharks for the dive boats. The water is very warm in the summer and the vis. averages around 60". Go on their websight and check it out.
You can also check out the scubaboard forums under the travel section for Mexico. Pedro from the Cantamar resort is very good about answering any questions about diving the area. His user name on that forum is Cantamar.
We are going there in September...Good luck!
I think he asked for good visibility as well. Dive masters out of La Paz tell me that they do well in the spring. June I think. But that the vis. is poor. Makes sense as the plankton is what brings them in. I've dove La Paz a number of time late summer or early fall. I've never seen a whale shark there. But several times that time of year "the boat that was there yesterday" did see them.
Looks like Holbox is the best place, can anyone recommend some good operators?
From what I've seen so far the price difference is huge ($500-$1500 for 5 day trip)
