Nikon D-200 Housings

10 posts
  1. Went to a presentation given by Berkley White of Backscatter last night. He had several housings for the D200 (and Canon cameras, in which I wan't interested). He let us touchy/feely the Subal, the Aquatica, and the Ikelite but the coolest was new all-black all aluminum (no plastic back half) beautiful looking Sea & Sea housing for the D200. The handles come out of the sides of the housing, not the weighted metal bottom cradle like they did for the D-70 half plastic/half aluminum.

It also was nice to compare the various housing viewfinders.

  2. Did he say anything about a future Light and Motion D200 housing? The last time I was in Backscatter they told me one was in the works but I've still seen no evidence of this.

  5. Can someone tell me if Subal Housings have detachable handles for easy packing? I'm eyeballing one for my new D200.

    Thanks,

2 metric allen screws per handle. Pretty quick to take off and put back on.

  8. Eric,

I did not take pictures (floor was too slippery from all that drooling) but if Berk hasn't left yet for his shark trip I'll see if he can forward or post some.

He gave a great comparitive presentation, as well as hands-on, look through viewfinder, heft the housing/camera combinations pass around. Actually they stayed up by him, we passed around the display table. He had some great graphics comparing the various attributes of various Nikon (D-100, D-70, D-200, D2X) and Canon cameras and the various housings. A good chart is worth 500 words, I always say...

Oh and he had the INON stobe for comparison to SEA&SEA and IKE size / battery comparisons. This was better than 1000 word picture, because the packing size of that strobe says it all.
