Bunaken/Siau/Lembeh

  1. Pics from my recent trip to Northern Sulawesi:

We did a tour from Lembeh, a live-aboard to Siau and a week at Bunaken. I must say Bunaken was a bit of a disappointment, the corals are not that nice anymore and we didn't see too many special things over there as well. The Northern Islands (Siau) are absolutely fabulous, a lot of big soft corals.

The rest of my Sulawesi-gallery is on my website: www.kopstal.nl

I particularly love the simple beauty in this shot. I hope you don't mind me linking from your gallery.

    Keep'em coming....

  12. Hey Kees, I really admire your work.

I read in another thread that for low vis CFWA you prefer the 15FE because it is easier to light that the 10.5 mm.

Are you using the 10.5 here?

  13. This is the 10.5 indeed.

With bad vis and low light, the 15mm is easier to light in landscape, because of the narrower field. With the 10.5 you definatly get hotspots in the corners (backscatter), even if you backup and point out the strobes quit a bit.

I made some superdiffusers (plastic cups) on my strobes, so I can point them outwards as far as possible.

When you shoot portrait, you can use the 10.5, because the horizontal field to light is narrower. It took me quit some time to discover that portait is the way to shoot in those conditions, it "ads" several meters of vis this way.

And.. thanks for the compliment ;)

  14. How 'bout posting a picture of your "superdiffusers" so we can all make 'em?

  15. Oh yeh, ofcourse.

Just give me a couple of days to make some decent pictures and testshots.

  16. Yeah no worries mate! ;) Thanks for being so obliging. :D
