Manado earthquake?

  1. Does anybody know something about very recents earthquakes around Manado?

Did they afect for travelling there?

Any news will be wellcome...we are leaving to Manado in 3 weeks... :(:):):o:(:D

  2. We were there a month again and no problems.

  3. They apparently did have an earthquake today, but not a bad one:

But I think you're thinking of the far bigger earthquakes that were in the news a few weeks ago, which were far from there (Java, as I recall). Indonesia is so huge that it's like an earthquake in California; the rest of the country hears about it, but isn't affected at all!

    Thanks bmyates.

Not talking about the Java's one. I read today about one around Manado area, and two more last week... :(:unsure:

  5. There are earthquakes on a regular basis in Sulawesi (where Manado is), but these are benign. In fact, I've just come back from a couple of weeks diving there and in Lembeh, and apparently there was one while I was there, but I didn't feel anything.

Reports in the past have been very limited due to the harmless nature of earthquakes there. It appears that it's good for headlines right now because of other similar events on other Indonesian islands, but if you ask locals, they're not even aware of the recent tremors...
