  1. Hey all, just wondering if you guys had any critiques or suggestions on this Christmas tree worm shot.

Perhaps change the composition, angle et cetera?

Original image slightly retouched with levels, Unsharp mask.

Crop of above image, added a border, sharpened some more, increased the contrast a bit.

    Any thoughts??

To be honest i'm pretty pleased with the crop and can't think of much that would make it better

  2. Looks to me like that is natural light with Man WB?

Its a nice shot, lots of sharp focus..

But, seems to lack a bit of colour punch.

How about tryin it with the onboard flash and using a faster shutter speed to isolate the main subject from the back ground a bit more?

You're right Mike, natural light with man WB.

I'll be sure to try out your suggestion next time with the internal flash.... sometimes I forget that it's there :(:D .

  4. The second crop looks better but with any picture your eye goes to the brightest spot in the pic which is the upper right corner, that is the only thing that really stands out as a problem. The worm is not full of impact or color but the shot is a good representation. Try using the burn tool in the upper right corner it might pop the worm out a little more.

  5. Hey Jam,

Good to see you on here, a little more restrained than SB!

I think its a great shot, but it would look better with a whaleshark in the background, did you use whitebalance on your S80? How did you do that?

Im not sure if DC is on here much, i think he just lurks in the shadows.....

    :D:blink::lol:

  6. Hi Jam,

Some tips: The multi-colored light background doesn't add much to the shot, and it a distraction. I'd stop down and use flash on worm to make a darker background.

Secondly, the overexposed white dot on the tip of the worm draws your eye STRAIGHT to that spot. Can you burn it in somehow in Photoshop? That would help a lot.

    Otherwise, keep shooting!

Now I'm going to have to go over and check out SB - sounds exciting! lol - nOT.

    Cheers

There are some interesting pictures of a certain moderator floating around on there..... What you Wetpixel Mods do in your own time is your own business i guess....
