  1. Appolgiuse for the delay .. i thought I had posted them .. apparently my wifi was not connected and i was bamboozeled into thinking it had posted. Lame maybe, Limp never!

and now for some photos, they have been processed using canon raw converter in auto and acdsee3 batch processed just to get them done for some viewing .. lack of computer power to do them right .. i'll get to work on that on wednesday or thursday. But there are ten of my faves that don't look so bad but defnately highlight my trip.

accidently falling in the water with my camera and snorkel equipment near a humpback whale.

And then some more of them jumping

And thats the lot until later on this week.

I had an absolute blast .. everything was new to me .. all of those photos have subjects in I have never seen doing things I have never seen. It was jaw dropping for me so at times I found myself just watching in amazement rather than snapping away.

It's insane how many things I did for the first time on this trip .. apparently i need to get out more.

  2. Guys you really have taken some great pics....

Looks like me and Kelly will have to start saving up to go on one.

How lucky were you Giles to accidently fall in like that, you should be more careful though..don't you know thoses Whales could eat you..they eat all the other fish in the ocean ya know.. :D

  3. Now that's better, Giles. PS the gannet taking off is really an albatross.

Wags, Kelly can come on my boat... you can go with the guys. :D

  4. Drew, he is a blonde supermodel, lucky he didn't think it was a seagull....

Great shots everyone!!!! I am big time jealous....

  5. oh i am so looking forward to one day slapping i mean meeting mikes bald head.

everyone should save up for life time experiences like the sardine run although it def isn't for everyone. it is very much a trip of a life time.

i wont be forgetting it anytime soon and will definately be doing more of the same and hopefully the same again.

  6. Man that looks like fun. Nice shots all.

  7. I just looked at your new name Giles... I guess it's a curse to be beautiful. Check your emails.

    And post more pics!

  8. And post more pics!

I will do soon ... but the computer here can't take any more captain ... she's falling apart as i type !

Back in cayman tomorrow with more processing power than HAL 2000 !

  9. Wow amazing stuff.

Giles, I thought you were stopping off in the UK for a few days?

    Alex

  10. Oh Eric...I'm headed back to "civilization" in 2 days... action is going off the wall now... and the viz has returned. No one is there!!!

  11. Giles, I thought you were stopping off in the UK for a few days?

I sort of did .. but had no time to come see you so I i didn't ring .. I am heading back to cayman early wednesday morning .. I had sunday night to tuesday :D
  12. Thanks for all the great photos, guys!!

Eric, your whale tail, etc shots are inspiring to say the least and I'm sure it doesn't even come near to the actual experience!!

Drew, again great breaching whale shots! Good action shots!

Giles, you "accidentally" got some great shots. :) But you aren't "modeling" in anyone's...., shucks!!

Thanks for giving us all a look into an exciting event, too bad the bait was sparse and late, but then it looks like you all still found action, I would have expected nothing less...... B)

Thanks for the pics! That's a trip I've wanted to do and maybe I'll be tempted after I get my new camera setup......... :D

    Carol

  13. hey, everyone.

if there is interest in putting together a trip next year, let me know. of course, you are free to book yourself, but if we can get enough people we'll get 6 people on a Wetpixel boat focused on photography.

I can't go next year, but if we can get enough people together I'll try to convince a photo pro of some sort to lead the trip.

let me know via e-mail if you're interested! http://wetpixel.com/contacteric/

  14. My favourite shot is Eric's dolphins at dawn - it is on his website and well worth checking out. Totally beautiful.

    Alex

  16. See! It is rather a good one. :D

  17. No one got a picture of the whale about to eat Eric?

  18. Yeah, baby. Shot today off of Chris & Monique's boat. Only had 1 breach in 4 days.

  19. Awesome. I am looking forward to seeing frames 4 and 6 at higher res. SO DAMN COOL. I haven't even seen one of those underwater, let alone in the air.

    Alex

  20. Here are higher-res, full-frame shots:

And a 600x400 pixel crop. Fairly sharp. ISO 500 and pushed a bit in processing (underexposed as to prevent water and sky from blowing out):
