Very nice, I really like the lionfish. What new gear are you buying?
Luiz
Hey Luiz,
thank you ![]()
This decision took me days, weeks and months to think about. In the end it was a tough decision. But now i have a solution which is good for my individual way.
I am getting another compact, Fuji E900 in Ikelite housing, two Inon strobes, 2x Inon macro lenses, Inon wide angel lense, fisheye lense and several extras like screen magnifier, focus light, etc..
I bought it used, so i can handle the money..
That equipment will give me the ability to shoot every kind of UW images that i like to do. I am not sure about yet what will be my favorite disziplin..
You know i started UW photography in march this year and did around 70 or 80 dives with a camera since then, so i am relativ new to all that stuff...
I think I am going to get a DSLR for above the water as soon as i can...
(From what is on the market now i am thinking about Nikon D80, D200 or Fuji S5, which comes next year)
But i am not willing to invest many thousands of Euro for a equipment without a imagination where my way will bring me, you know.
If my skills will increase as i hope and if i`ll reach the limitation of the E900, i would have to take another decision..Maybe i`ll getting a housing etc for the DSLR then...time will show
But as long as this process will take i am able to shoot every kind of UW photography that i want to without loosing the financial power to follow my other aims (...and i have a lot
)
You know, i saw a lot of amazing images taken with a compact camera (like f.e. the E900) and i saw a lot magnificent - even better - images taken with a DSLR...
But i also saw a lot poor images taken with DSLR and Compacts.
This fact gives me the impression that in the end it is the photographer that is responsible for the results and not the equipment itself. Equipment is just the tool for it and sure the better the tools are the easier you can work.
But to work hard is not the worst offender... ![]()

Hello & Greetz from Germany to everyone...
Long time ago since the last post in this topic ![]()

In the meantime i got my new camera, strobes etc. and did an amazing trip along the westcoast of thailand.
It was just amazing including a 30 minute Mantadance @Koh Bon.
I finally decided for a Fuji E900 in an ikelite housing usw....
As i came from a totally automatic cam (DC 500) everything was new for me. Setting aperture, shutter speed and also manual strobe settings and output was a complete new universe for me ![]()
After the 10 day trip and 30 dives with this great little camera (ok for you DSLR folks is this a toy, i know
) i got slowly comfortable with all that stuff and then the trip was over ![]()
We tried to go on another trip, but it was not possible to change the flight back to germany, but that is another story.....
I would like to show you my Top 5 of the trip.
More shots of the trip you can see on flickr ...
