  1. I heard that Nikon is unveiling the new D3 and D300 at Photoshop World Vegas in a few days.

Is anyone going and going to get us pics/synopsis?

  4. Hi,

D300 in Nexus D200 housing. I think D200 housing can be modified to use D300.

  5. Sam,

ooh, I think you just made a lot of D200 owners really happy...

  6. Sam,

ooh, I think you just made a lot of D200 owners really happy...

I hope Subal will make a modified backplate for the ND20... wow it would be cool!

  7. Do you managed to take some test shots with the D3/D300?

  8. Did you try out any of the top and front controls?

  9. good news

  10. In that last pic the D300 lens mouting flange seemes off center with the nexus port opening. this could simply be the angle of the photo, but can you confirm if it was centered or not??

otherwise it looks good and i'm hoping aquatica will make a modified back as I already have my D300 preordered!!

    ... and that 14-24mm is a beast - yikes!!!

  11. Sam,

 YES! The news I was hoping for. Hopefully Hugyfot also does a "D300/Back" if not, I can live without some buttons.

  12. Sam hasn't commented on how the command dials work - but hopefully he will when it gets to be day-time on his side of the world.

    Cheers

  13. Hi,

Front command dial is in perfect in-line with housing. I should remove the plastic positioner/holder on base plate to try more but, did not have tools with me. Lens flange is not in center because of holder. To me, D200 Nexus housing has 90% chance to accomodate D300. I will try more next week when I return from a short trip.

  14. If the lens is not in the center of the port but the viewfinder is perfectly aligned, then that is a problem. Lens needs to be in the center of the port for WA shooting so perhaps the acrylic backplate can be redone w/ the viewfinder moved???

    Cheers

  15. Thanks Sam you are the best!!! B)

What I'm hoping is that Subal will design a new back and possibly tray and sell just that to us d200/ND20 owners. That way we can use both cameras in the housing (1 extra back and tray maybe?)

Anyway, it is not too early for Xmas wishes for Santa Claus right?

Thanks again Sam and if anyone is going to be in Vegas day after tomorrow, bring your housings and fiddle away!!! We have more at stake anyway than the Photoshop gurus!

    Thanks, Carol

  16. Let's say the D300 matches up very well on the sides and front with the D200 housings, what is the likelihood that housing manufacturer’s would create a new back to their D200 housings to accommodate the rear controls and screen of the D300? Being too inexperienced to really know how housing manufacturers meet their targets, I think both from a manufacturing and sales position it makes sense. But, I am skeptical (or more so, cynical) of this type of support from the housing manufacturers being offered, though I would thoroughly LOVE to be proven wrong! Does this make sense to them, is there a good track record of housing manufacturer's embracing and employing this idea and concept? We all wish for it, but do the manufactuers care what we all wish for? What has history told us? Those of you in know, what do you think?

P.S. I'm not referring to Ikelite here, its easy for them to do this, its what they do.

  17. Good point paquito...

From my experience on the Canon side with Sea & Sea... Sadly, No...

Case in point, the Canon 400D/ XTi. It is identical in size to the 350D/XT. Only a row of buttons needed to be shifted on the rear to accomodate the 400D's larger LCD. Some people including myself have made simple modifications to the housing back buttons. Instead of coming out with just a modified back, Sea & Sea introduced a brand new housing, TOOK OFF key buttons (go figure?), SLAPPED ON a TTL converter internally (so now its not a $400 option), and put a higher price tag on the new housing (since it now includes the TTL converter)...

  18. I thought Nexus had a back to fit the D80 into a D70/s housing?

  19. I thought Nexus had a back to fit the D80 into a D70/s housing?

OK - any comments from the industry folks on the "less expensive" way to upgrade the existing D200 housings for the D300 - or - as I suspect are they holding off until they have a D300 body to physically play with - and are they even willing to try to make nice with all of us poor D200 owners out there?

    Andy

  20. Based on the time it took Light & Motion to come out with the Titan DSLR to accommodate the D200, wonder what their plans are???
